She's usually in her Healer's robes during the day when at work or volunteering at St. Mungo's. She does own muggle clothing such as jeans, trousers, t-shirts and jumpers and a few sundresses. She wears muggle clothing under her robes. Penelope is feminine when she wants to be, but for the most part she's just to busy to pay attention to such things. She only has one pair of dress robes which she hasn't worn in many years.

Health
Disabilities/Handicaps: Two years ago she's had to start wearing reading glasses, particulary at night as reading just before going to bed is her favourite past time.
Health in general – both mental and physical: PHYSICAL: Penelope's general health is excellent other than having to wear reading glasses. Because she works with magical creatures, she usually has some bump, bruise or scratch that is fresh or healing but no other significant or major injuries. She considers herself very fortunate. She is unable to have children (both muggle and wizard healers have no idea why) but she doesn't consider that to be a disability, however saddening it is for her. MENTAL: Penelope has a fragile sense of self-worth when it comes to dating and being in a relationship which is attributed to the fact that her husband left her and she knows she was the reason why he did. She is insecure about her looks -she doesn't try to look sexy or seductive on purpose and can never believe it when someone pays her a compliment.

Personality
First Impression (others have of you): stand-offish and cold (not unusual amongst witches and wizards these days - everyone is cautious about who they meet), way too serious and needs to lighten up.

General Behaviour:Penelope has been referred to as having a "girl-next-door" type of personality - she is very friendly with those she is comfortable around and has a positive outlook on life, even after all that has happened during these war times. She can be a bit cocky about her skills as a healer and is stubborn when someone disputes her diagnosis and methods. She is very secure in her intelligence and any suggestion that she is wrong isn't taken very well by her. She can say something very profound and then be a total goof in the next instant - but she isn't flighty. She tries not to take herself too seriously, but doesn't like it when others don't take her seriously enough. She is often over analytical when it comes to people and relationships, even friendships.

Strengths: Trustworthy, faithful, is very kind and compassionate - especially towards animals/magical creatures; has a great sense of humor, if not a bit on the odd side; has strong family values; does her best to see the good in everyone; very intelligent, but not a show-off about it - she'll tell you what her opinions are but won't push them upon you. She has a particular gift towards diagnosing illness in living creatures but is in no way a seer or clairvoyant - she's just very intuitive. She's very good at managing her money and is thrifty - isn't lavish or spends on extravagant items (not that there is much during a war). She hates to see any sort of suffering and will starve and give her dinner to someone else if she thinks they need it more. She brings vegetables from her greenhouse and other food to St. Mungo's and give them to the patients who come in who are malnourished.

Weaknesses: Penleope has a stubborn streak, which is a curse and a blessing (depending who she's being stubborn with and what it is about). She rarely asks for help, particularly when she knows she needs it. She does her best to see the good in others, so she can be naïve even though she doesn't trust very easily in romantic relationships. She sometimes jumps to conclusions and puts her foot in her mouth but is always quick to apologize when she realizes her error. She can be brutally honest - diplomacy isn't her strong suit. She gives too much of herself so she is susceptible to being taken advantage of by the wrong people. Penelope can be a hopeless klutz, especially around someone who she finds attractive.

Habits: Twirls her hair, tugs on her lower lips when she's concentrating, swears too much when frustrated or upset.

Family History: Victoria Clearwater met her husband Matthew (both native Brits) while they were both traveling through Paris in the early 1970's (Victoria sightseeing and Matthew studying art in the country). Caught up in the romance of the country, they quickly fell in love. Matthew was surprised to find out that his lover was actually a witch but it did not hinder his affection for Victoria in any way - he was raised in a very open minded family. Both of their families were thrilled with the match, however his family did not at first fully believe in Victoria being a "witch". They concluded that she was some sort of new age enthusiast, which was fine by them (not being the religious sort at all).

Penelope was born when Voldemort and his Death Eater's terror had the wizarding world strongly in its grip. Because of this, Penelope's parents decided to raise her as much as a muggle as they could. Victoria Clearwater put her wand away and became an attentive house-wife and stay at home mother while Matthew secured a position as a real estate solicitor.

Victoria and Matthew tried to concieve a brother or sister for Penelope but with no success. Accepting that they would only raise one child, they instead filled the house with many animals for her to play with - a dog, four cats, several birds and a large aquarium full of exotic fish. Penelope's childhood was a very happy one and her parents are still alive and married today. Her parents retired and moved to the countryside in England and Victoria is again active in magic, mostly to protect her and her family.

What they think about sex and love Penelope doesn't believe in one-night stands or any form of casual sex - she's much too practical and emotional for such things. She's fallen in love before and believes she can fall in love again, but it would have to be a very special man to get her back to that place. She isn't priggish in bed at all - in fact, past lovers have been surprised to find out how sensual and sexual she is. Penelope is very subtle with her sexuality until she meets the right person to show her other side.

First sign of magic – when and what: When Penelope was 6 years old, her and her school mates were playing "fairies" in the school yard with willow twigs. They were pretending to be the fairy godmothers from Sleeping Beauty. An older school bully and his mates came along and tried to interrupt their play time, even taking one of Penelope's friend's willow twigs and breaking it. Penelope tried to stop the bully from going after the other friend and yelled "stop" at the top of her lungs, pointing her twig at the boy. The boy went stiff as a board and fell in over instantly. Afterwards the muggle doctors diagnosed the boy has having cataplexy but when Penelope, at her mother's insistence, showed exactly what she had done it proved to her parents that she was able to do magic - having performed Petrificus Totalus unintentionally on the school bully.

Level of education reached (do your characters have OWLs/NEWTs – none of the above? Have they gone on to some type of training? Remember that there is no wizarding uni and that there is a war going on): When Penny left Hogwarts, she wanted to become a Healer. She began an internship at St. Mungo's but after a year there, and after having a little girl-witch die in her arms in the emergency section of the fourth floor ward, Penny decided that Healing humans wasn't her path.

Instead, Penny joined the Artemis Institute for Magical Creature Research and studied there for four years, learning how to further work with and heal magical creatures. It was discovered that she had an exceptional ability to diagnose illness and curses in living creatures. After completing her course work at Artemis, she spent a year in Romania at the Wizard's Dragon Research Center doing mostly lab work. Penny did do some field work, however, helping the Romanian Reserve with any injured dragons that were brought in.

After her schooling Penny opened up a creature-healing practice in Hogsmeade using her inheritance from her grandmother, who was also a witch. Her business thrived at first, but as the wars continued and the magical creatures dying off her practice became more part-time. To fill in the hours, Penny gravitated back towards St. Mungo's, offering her healing skills to its patrons but mostly helping to change beds, bedpans and volunteer whatever was needed of her. She still refuses to go into certain wards, however.

Current Occupation: Magical Creature Specialist and Healer; has her own practice "Clearwater Clinic". She does have a client base of locals who still own pets or familiars, and has even been called upon by Hogwarts from time to time.

Monetary Situation: Penelope received an impressive inheritance from her maternal grandmother who as also a witch. Since her grandmother did not trust the Goblins, her inheritance was held in a vault in Switzerland and there is where the rest of it remains after Penelope spent much of it establishing her clinic. As the Galleon isn't worth what it used to be, Penelope accepts trade for her services and maintains a small magical greenhouse at her residence to help with food. Penelope does quite well for herself but she is by no means rich and she gives as much as she receives - some months even more.

Faction this character supports: Since Penny is half-blood and was raised in the muggle world up until she attended Hogwarts, she publicly supports the integration of the wizarding and muggle worlds. She believes that if the two worlds continue to exist separate and apart from each other as much as it has been, it will only be a weakness for which Death Eaters and evil wizards alike will exploit.
